Dr Simon Opher  – GMC 3297054

Dr Simon Opher is a full time GP and GP trainer. He is 55 yrs old and has worked in the practice since 1995. He trained at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London. He has worked and travelled abroad extensively. He is Chair of Stroud Integrated Locality Board with responsibility for the healthcare of 120,000 people. He was also the lead clinician for the national Cultural Commission Pilot and leads on Social Prescribing in Gloucestershire. He is a founder member of the All Party Parliamentary Group in Arts in Healthcare. He founded Artlift in 2007, providing arts on prescription to patients in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Latest projects include arts and ballet to help survivors of cancer, the use of comedy to engage hard to reach communities, and Allotments on prescription sited on unused NHS land. He was instrumental in getting both May Lane Surgery built and also designing and building the Vale hospital in Dursley.

He lives locally, plays football weekly at Rednock school and is the President of Uley Cricket Club. He is the Chair of Prema Arts Centre in Uley and a patron of GL11 community centre.

He was awarded an MBE in 2016.

Dr Bethan George – GMC 7266500
MBChB (Manchester 2012), DRCOG, MRCGP

Dr Bethan George completed her medical training in the North West of England and East Midlands, before settling in the South-West to undertake specialty GP training. She has worked as a salaried GP in two Stroud surgeries before joining the Walnut Tree team as a partner in May 2022.

She enjoys exploring the Cotswold countryside with her dog and is looking forward to getting to know the Dursley area.
